Former Greenwich Time reporter Teri Buhl, who is known for harassing many hedge fund managers on her blog, was found guilty of harassing the teenage daughter of an ex-boyfriend.
Forty-year old Buhl was arrested in New Canaan in November 2010 after it was discovered that she had posted intimate information about her then-boyfriend’s 17-year-old daughter on Facebook, information which authorities said was taken from the teenager’s private diary.
According to the arrest report, Buhl created a Facebook account under the name “Tasha Moore” and then posted photographs and private entries about the then New Canaan High School student on the internet.
The teenager said the diary was hidden in the back of her dresser drawer.
Buhl was arrested after police discovered that the entries were made from an IP address belonging to her. She later claimed that she was using the unauthorized information for an investigative piece she was working on about teenage drinking parties in New Canaan.
Buhl, who was charged with second-degree harassment, second-degree breach of peace and interfering with police investigation, was found guilty of second-degree harassment and second-degree breach of peace at state Superior Court in Norwalk on Friday.
She faces up to nine months in prison and a fine of $1,500 when she is sentenced.
