A former Greenwich High School student was killed while rock climbing in Africa over the weekend.
University of Pennsylvania student Oliver Pacchiana, who was studying abroad this semester in South Africa, died when he fell during a rock-climbing expedition in Nambia.
Twenty-year-old Pacchiana, who was enrolled in a master’s program in mechanical engineering at his school, was in Nambia on his spring break when the accident happened.
Funeral service will be held for Pacchiana at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul Church at 84 Sherwood Avenue in Greenwich. A reception will follow at the Seton Scout Reservation at 363 Riversville Road.
Burial is private.
