A Greenwich businessman is accused of attempting to kill his wife in their multi-million dollar backcountry home.

Patrick Baugier, the owner of MetroWines in Stamford and New York City, was arrested in Stamford on January 17.

Around 11:30 a.m. last Friday a bruised Hombeline Baugier walked into Greenwich Police Headquarters to report an earlier domestic incident with her husband.

A police investigation revealed that the couple was involved in a verbal altercation earlier in the day and during their argument Baugier grabbed his wife and then pushed her onto a bed.  While on the bed, the victim said her husband began strangling her refusing to let her go.

Baugier eventually fled the couple’s home at 367 Riversville Road, but he was arrested a short time later in Stamford.

He was charged with third degree assault, breach of peace and second-degree strangulation.

According to the company’s website, MetroWines is “a wholesaler of the premier classified growth from the world’s most important chateaux and wineries.”
