Greenwich police said a local woman who was robbed at gunpoint in her downtown home this week was targeted by the suspects.

Around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday a woman returned to her East Elm Street home she shares with her mother to find the elderly woman tied up.

The victim told officers she was at home when two male, Caucasians, wearing ski masks and dark clothing, entered through the front door, which was left unlocked.

One of the suspects hit her in the face with a handgun and demanded a large sum of cash.  After receiving the money, the suspects fled the home but not before bounding the woman’s hands and feet.

Authorities believe the suspects targeted the victim and her daughter, and one neighbor, who did not want to be identified, agreed with the police saying: “If you’re going after a house like that, especially in Greenwich, there’s something up.  You’ve got to have a reason.”

Other neighbors were quick to point out the large privacy fence surrounding the modest house, near Julian Curtis School, incinerating that the family had something to hide.

As of press time the suspects were still at large.
