Update: 6/18/13
Both Bill and Dana Evans were able to keep their nasty May 4th fight out of the police blotter section of the local newspapers, but their lawyers were unable to get a closed courtroom for their arraignments.
The couple was arraigned in Stamford Superior Court earlier today in two separate hearings, and based of the shocking details that were released, it sounds like both parties were at fault.
Dana, who saw the judge first, claims her husband of 19 years punched her in the face knocking her to the floor.
Bill, on the other hand, told the judge Dana “grabbed the waistband of his underwear and reached for his scrotum with her free hand, subsequently scratching it…which resulted in bleeding.”
The meteorologist said when Dana was finished scratching his private area; she grabbed a wood hanger and began hitting him across the butt until the hanger broke.
All this happened while their three school age children were at home.
Apparently the fight started over Bill’s car keys.
Original story
WABC Channel 7 meteorologist Bill Evans was arrested over a domestic incident involving his wife of 19 years.
Details surrounding the May 4th dispute between Bill and his wife, Dana, who was also arrested, have not been made public, but his lawyer released a statement saying in part, “Bill and Dana are presently going through a difficult divorce. We expect that Bill will be exonerated and this case will be quickly forgotten.”
Dana’s attorney, Mark Sherman, also issued a statement saying the charges against his client will be dropped in due time.
A spokesperson for WABC released a statement saying “we are reviewing the situation and have no further comment at this time.”
The Greenwich resident has been with WABC-TV since December 1989. He and Dana have four children.
Evans is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on Tuesday.
